Supporting Heroes
On the weekend of 9/11 – 12/14 North Oldham assisted “Supporting Heroes” with a golf scramble at theHarmony Landing Country Club to raise funds. “Supporing Heroes” mission is “to honor the service and sacrifice of public safety heroes who give their lives in the line of duty – by caring for the loved ones they leave behind” and is a non-profit that has accomplished their mission way too often in recent years.
North Oldham’s Quint 1455, which is a 2001 Seagrave “Meanstick” held up one end of a large “Garrison Flag” while a 1966 tractor – drawn Seagrave “Road Warrior” held up the other end. The “Road Warrior” is part of the private collection of Retired Chief Rick Albers. It should be noted that 35 years seperates the vintage of these two apparatus built by the same manufacturer!
“Supporting Heroes” provides assistance to those in need after a member of the public safety commuity experiences tragedy. You can learn more about them and their mission and donate by visiting their website at www.supportingheroes.org.
Thanks to Sgt John Kilroy for the photos!
