Structure Fire on Axton Ln.
12/19/2011On the night of 19 December 2011 members of North Oldham Fire Department were dispatched to a well involved structure fire at 3203 Axton Lane in the community of Skylight, Kentucky. The initial call received from a passerby at the intersection of US 42 and Axton Lane (2200 feet away) indicated that the structure fire was very visible from that point. NOFD Purchases Two New Engines
3/1/2011 - NOFD recently took delivery of two new engines. Engine 1431 & 1432 are built on a Spartan Gladiator Chassis with the ISL Cummins 425 hp engine. The body is full stainless steel. The engines have a 15kw “Smart Power” hydraulic generator with a “Command” light tower above the pump compartment.

The pump is a “Waterous CSUC20” 1500 GPM with a FoamPro 2001 system. The engines have a 1000 gal. tank and a 30 gal. foam tank.The deck gun is 1000gpm extend-a-gun mounted in the hose bed.

There have been significant safety improvements over the past years with NFPA 1901. The newer apparatus will help protect the health and lives of our members operating this equipment and responding to runs.


NOFD Responds to House Fire
1/5/2011 - On 5 January 2011 at 4:33 pm units from North Oldham and Harrods Creek Fire Departments responded to a structure fire at 13314 Creekview Road in the “Picnic Hill” section of the City of River Bluff subdivision. The second story of the house was well involved with fire upon arrival. The fire was declared “under control” at 5:25 pm. Additional units assisted from South Oldham and Westport Fire Departments as well as the Oldham County Arson Investigation Team. Residents were not home at the time of the fire and it was called in by a neighbor. The structure sustained heavy damage. The cause is under investigation. There were no injuries. Units cleared the scene at 7:17 pm.


Ohio River Boat Fire
9/7/2010 - At approximately 7pm North Oldham Fire Department responded with Fire-Rescue Boat 1491 to a boat fire located at Mile 588 on the Ohio River in the area of Tartan’s Landing Marina. The fire was confined to the engine compartment of a 50 foot Gibson Houseboat. Occupants of the vessel had made it to safety using PWC’s prior to 1491’s arrival. The fire was quickly extinguished and the boat was towed to be taken out of the water at R&R Marine. The owner of the boat stated that he had been having some trouble with the fuel system prior to the fire. Units from Westport and Harrods Creek assisted.


Labor Day House Fire
9/6/2010 - At approximately 4:30pm on Labor Day North Oldham members assisted by units from LaGrange, Westport, South Oldham and Harrods Creek Fire Departments as well as Oldham County EMS work to extinguish a well involved house fire located on Upson Downs Farm on North Buckeye lane in Goshen. According to residents the fire was started by a four-year old child playing with a lighter. All residents escaped without injury however the house was a total loss and the family pet was killed in the fire. This fire serves as a reminder of the danger lighters pose when in the hands of a curious child.
