North Oldham Fire Department proudly serves over 10,000 people in a 47 square mile fire district.  We operate out of two stations, protecting a predominantly rural residential area.  Our department is a publicly funded fire district utilizing a mix of paid and volunteer firefighters and EMT's.   We have an ISO rating of Class 6 in areas with fire hydrants and Class 9 in the non-hydrant areas.  One of our short term goals is to improve the ISO Classification to a Class 4 or possibly a Class 3.  This will enable property owners in our district to realize a significant savings on insurance premiums.

We use only the latest, safest, and most advanced equipment available for superior fire protection/extinction and safety of our personnel. Check out our equipment by clicking on the pictures below.

The North Oldham Fire Department is funded as a fire protection district authorized by Kentucky Revised Statutes, Chapter 75.  The Fire District levies a property tax on real-estate and personal property in the district.  The current tax rate is 9.5 cents per $100 of property valuation.  The fire district is overseen by a 7 member Board of Trustees whose responsibilities include setting the tax rate, approving a budget and appointing the Fire Chief.  The Fire Chief is the Chief Executive Officer of the department and is responsible for the day to day operations of the department, finances, personnel, purchasing, and delivery of emergency and non-emergency services. These personnel operate three engines, one quint, two water tankers, one brush fire unit, one fire support unit and one BLS ambulance from two stations.  In addition, we utilize one fire rescue boat, one Jon boat and one three person wave runner to provide fire fighting, EMS and water rescue services on the Ohio river and various tributaries.  View apparatus. We are dispatched through Oldham County Dispatch, who fields all 911 calls and dispatches all the emergency services (police, fire, EMS) and non-emergency services (road crews, animal control, and others as needed.)
